Honor Won at the International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition

Organized by MIT and hosted by CUHK, Asia Division final competition of the 11th International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (IGEM) was held in Hongkong. 68 Asian top universities including Tokyo Univeristy, Univeristy of Sydney, Seoul University, Hongkong University, Hongkong University of Science and Technology, Chinese University of Hongkong, Taiwan Jiaotong University, Peking University and Tsinghua University participated in the final. After the fierce competition, the team from Anhui University of Technology, AHUT-China won the third place, same position with Tokyo University, University of Sydney, Osaka University, Indian Institute of Technology, Seoul University and Nanjing University.


204 teams in total from different parts of the world joined in the competition. Internationally renown universities such as MIT, University of California, Berkeley, Purdue University have also been involved in the event. The International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (IGEM), initiated by MIT in 2003, attracts top students from top universities each year and is regarded as the highest-level scientific competition for college students in the field of synthetic biology
